SURF. The surf spot is on the left side of the fishing dock. It
works just with south swells. Excellent lefts. On shallow rocks
when waves are little, sandy if big (in that case you coast along
the rocky break that remain on the inside). Lots are the children
that consider this wave their playground. If you have old boards
to leave, remember these really professional children. To enter
in the water when it is big, you can hump from the dock. a little
wave to learn is always present when the tide change.
WINDSURF and KITE. Five minutes walking from the dock (ask for
ALBATROS hotel, known as AEROFLOT, its original name), you will
find a splendid beach to practice windsurf and kite. For the windsurf
the more used sails are the 5.5, for kite about 12-14 meters (often
is around 20 knots). 3 are the windsurf-kite schools here, with
all recent stuff. Side-shore wind for quite all year (left hand).

| 2.PONTA DO SINO |

|
|
WINDSURF and KITE. Excellent spot with side-shore wind for most
of the year (left hand). Medium chop to learn, with possibility
to find zones with good ramps to jump. Perfect for all the levels
if you aren't looking for rideable waves. With active swell can
result binding. Its shore break often disturbs beginners(attention
with your masts). In the zone of the wrecked ship there are excellent
waves.
SURF. Sometimes there are waves in the wrecked ship zone. Rights
and lefts. Going through the extreme south west point of the island,
you will find a very quick and hollow right. Go in the water north
of the wave because there is a strong southward current. Beware
not to let you move too far away from the shore. About 50 meter
from the shore every day there are scuba divers visiting sharksi.
Don't worry about them because there is lot of fish for them.

|
|
|
SURF, WINDSURF e KITE. Become famous thanks to the Trilogy (windsurf
championship alternative to PWA), it often offers radical conditions.
Very long lefts can be ridden at the same time by surfers (long
barrels), windsurfers and kiters.
It works perfectly only with medium-big swells, becoming really
dangerous when the conditions are little (less then 2 meters) because
the waves break too near the shore (shallow). Just for experts,
it don't allow errors (the graveyard of broken things can be examined
on the shore). The wind is right hand side off shore.
To enter into the water is better going from the downwind bay,
not imitateing the braver locals that often exit from the external
tip.
For sure a mandatory sight to examine when conditions are big.

WINDSURF. Easily reachable taking the highway to the airport and
following the sign for CALHETA FUNDA, they are two good spots for
easy wave riding. Waves are not so fast and the winds blows right
hand side off shore. Try them.

| 5.MOUNT LEAO |
|
|

Its name is due to the mount shaped like a crouched lion that dominate
the spot. It offers every kind of waves.

|
|
|
SURF. Located on the other side of Mount Leao, reachable only by
easy off-road paths, it offers incredible lefts when the swell is
working.

| 7.SHARKS BAY |
|
|
|
KITE. Spot mainly for kiters although some windsurfer is always
present. It offers on-shore or side-on conditions.
Its name, that arouse fear, is due to the fact that east cost is
patrolled by sharks, although not dangerous (we don't assume responsability).
